1990S Hit Television Show 'Living Single' Now Streaming On Hulu
Streaming platform Hulu brings the 90's kind of world to the new millennium. Living Single becomes available to users January 11th and although the series is decades old, the timeless episodes resonate with fans new and old.
Living Single chronicled the ups and downs of Queen Latifah (Khadijah), Kim Fields (Regine), Kim Coles (Synclaire), Erika Alexander (Maxine), T.C. Carson (Kyle), and John Henson (Overton) as they experienced falling in and out of love, professional struggles, humorous situations from the comfort of a Brooklyn brownstone.
Living Single has been off air for 20 years yet the fervent excitement for the sitcom's return can be seen all across social media.
Recognized by many as one of the greatest 90's sitcoms, and opening the door for shows such as Friends, Living Single shares many angsty feelings experienced by young black professionals then and now. From Regine to Maxine, the characters all exhibit distinct personalities that aged wonderfully into fictional icons of television greatness.
During the five years Living Single aired, the show garnered two Emmy nominations and won an Image Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The characters of Living Single are relevant in 2018 as much as they were in 1998.
Khadijah's mass media ambitions, Regine's carefree flawless 1990s style, Maxine Shaw's fierce presence and Synclaire's bubbly nature are all representative of black women who viewers wanted to be. As a guest on Watch What Happens Live, Queen Latifah revealed she a reboot of the popular show was in the works.
“It’s not there yet, but hopefully we can get it happening.” says Queen Latifah to host Andy Cohen.
Until then, all five seasons are available on Hulu.
