Disney Officially Gets In Formation: Beyoncé To Play Nala In Live Action "The Lion King"
Beyoncé's newest role is one that Blue, Rumi and Sir Carter can all be excited for. The Grammy award winning performer takes her vocal gifts to Disney for their upcoming reprise of The Lion King. Many fans hoped Beyoncé would play a part in the film and their wishes have been granted. The star will play the role of Nala in the live action remake of Disney classic "The Lion King" as confirmed by Disney via Twitter.
The brief tweet accompanied by imagery of the main characters was the only thing neccessary as the strength of the cast sells itself. Beyoncé joins a cast of top Hollywood talent. Emmy award winning actor and creative genius Donald Glover takes the role of Simba and the legendary James Earl Jones once again takes the role of Mufasa as in the 1994 original film. Alfre Woodard, Chiwetek Eijifor, Keegan-Michael Key and John Kant also play a role in the Pride Land's circle of life.
Members of the Beyhive have long awaited this confirmation. Rumors began late spring, naming Beyoncé as Nala. Back in March Variety reported an exclusive claiming Queen Bey was top choice for the role. Beyoncé who has been in movies such as Dreamgirls and Obsessed is no stranger to the box office. With this opportunity, Beyoncé takes part in the revival of a timeless classic for a new generation.
The highly anticipated film is set to be released Summer 2019. Let the countdown begin.
